Well, we're close to square one on the name front having been trown a bit by our baby girl! We're going to keep our final selection a secret until she's born, but we'd still love to have the input of our friends and family.
Here's a tentative list of names under consideration. Please let us know what you like and don't like and if you have any suggestions you think we should add to the list (possible nicknames are in parentheses)!
First Names: Scarlett, Alexandra (Alex, Lexi, Sasha), Jacinda, Kiera, Mariella, Neve, Olive, Simone, Tarryn, Emeline (Emme), Marcheline (Charlie), Salome, Kaelyn
Middle Names: Aurora, Nicole (Nico), Arabelle, Brynn
By the way, we've gotten a couple of inquiries about our plans for the last name... We're going old school. The baby's last name will be Waltrup. No hyphenation or last name merger. I'll just be the outsider in the family with a different last name. :) I'm okay with being a rebel...
I like Jacinda (because it sounds a little like Jacy) LOL... I think my fave is Marcheline (unique, I don't know any Marchelines and Charlie is a cute nickname for a girl). I also like Emeline, too.
ReplyDeleteMiddle names, I like the names you listed in the order you have them. :)
But I'm still calling her Johanna! :)
You've picked out some cute names but I have to grown a bit at the ones ending in "a" since that seems to be the trend [coming from a woman whose name ends in "ie" and was born in the mid 70s! :)]. So, I concur with Marcheline! I also think Scarlett or Olive would be sweet! My only suggestion that I'm willing to give up only because Adam's co-worker already used it: Addeline. I love the middle name suggestions!
ReplyDeleteHey Shonna & Paul ... Toby gave me the news about the sonogram being on your blog (didn't know you even had one), so I had to snoop and take a peek at that little girl. She is beautiful. Names are so hard to choose ... working in a school, I can tell you that we have tons of kids named Lexi and Alex.
ReplyDeleteI like Kiera and Tarryn the best so far, although I'm sure you will add many more names to the list before she makes her debut! Kids always seem to hate their given names for at least the first 20 or so years. Toby always wanted a different name, but I kind of think it has grown on her. I love the Hebrew version of her name - Tovah.
Scarlett is a wonderful name! Definitely my favorite from your list.

ReplyDeleteI like Scarlett Nicole or Aurora Nicole... :-) I like Olive too; it's so hard to choose just one!
ReplyDeleteMike votes for Aurora (he said it sounds nature-esque, lol) and Caroline votes for Kiera! (Kazia, Caroline, Kiera...heheh)
I had to delete my previous comment because Mike changed his mind...
Salome get's my first pick based on literary references - Bible and Oscar Wilde reference - "a female seductress/don't f with me type woman..."
ReplyDeleteTarryn and Jacinda second...
As for middle name, it all depends, what last name is she getting? :D You know what my votes for.
Hey Shonna; I didn't know you were pregnant; Congratulations!! I guess Dan and Ruths' baby and your baby will be about the same age; that's so cool!!! Alexandra, Keira, Emeline, are gorgeous names.
ReplyDeleteI also like Adrianna, Annabelle,Olive is cute but I'm parial to Olivia because of the cartoon pig.
Nicole is pretty and a nice family name.
Thanks, everyone! Just for background, Aurora was Paul's great gandmother's middle name. Arabelle was my great gandmother's middle name. Nicole is also a family name (my cousin and niece). Thanks again for all of the input! :D
ReplyDeleteWait, how is the last name thing going to work? I like Alexandra, Tarryn, Emme and Marcheline. I *might* use Olivia for one of my own, so I can't in good conscience vote for it. Also, this isn't Jeff, it's Kristie!
ReplyDeleteHow about naming her after your friend Piri ? I like Nicole also. Alyssa (Alyssi, Alice). Kathryn. Berry. Keira.
ReplyDeleteI like Kaelyn Nicole . . . . Kaelyn because it's pretty, Nicole because it's the obvious. What about Carlin? Not Alexandra . . . it's pretty, but there are swarms of them around.
ReplyDeleteOkay, the Alana comment is from me! She logged into her google account = again on my laptop.
ReplyDeleteLove, your one and only family member in VA (Tracy)
We are going oldschool too, but I might slip my last name in as a secret second middle name or something! There's no "rule" about having 4 names, right? :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the naming! Don't worry tooo much about it. You have lots of time left. Maybe you won't really know which one to pick until she actually pops out, which I think is perfectly fine. That way you can place a name with a face!
aww...well, if ur takin votes and all, i really like Emeline. sounds pretty and almost fairy-like. not even sure if there's a meaning behind it, but it sounds nice. =)
ReplyDeletenaming seem like such a daunting task since it's (supposedly) so permanent. i agree with jac - i'm sure when u see her, u'll know her name. ^__^
